The holidays are now coming to an end, and your bank account is probably feeling the struggle by now. Just like mine, and many other Americans. But luckily for us, it's that time of year again. Tax return season. The IRS will begin accepting e-filed returns on the 31st of January, so get a head start on getting your refund by filing online. There are a ton of different websites available for doing your taxes, but they are not all made equal. Several websites claim that they will give the the maximum refund, but they all vary greatly. And furthermore, you do not want to be at risk of being audited. Here is a short list of the best websites to e-file your taxes on, and for a good price.

  • TaxACT - TaxACT is my personal favorite website to e-file on. It is quick, easy, and they save your w2's from the previous year to compare for errors. There are several options while filing your taxes, so they are guaranteed to have a price in your budget. TaxACT can be as cheap as $14.99 with their Federal Free edition, but it offers; free audit support, tax help, tutorials, and much more. TaxACT offers a maximum refund pledge that lives up to its expectations.
  •  TurboTax - TurboTax.com is a name that I am sure most everyone has heard of. TurboTax is one of the premier tax websites, and they offer the best rates for e-filing your taxes. They also offer a Federal Free edition to help you save money. But, when I compared refunds at TurboTax.com and TaxACT.com, my refund at TaxACT.com was a bit more.
  • H&R Block - H&R Block is one of the most trusted names in the tax preparation industry. They have established their reputation by being productive, accurate, and providing audit assistance. There is no doubt that H&R Block is a great website to e-file your return on, but it will come at a slightly higher rate of $27.99
There are plenty of options to use when choosing to e-file your return. Doing your own taxes can save you a lot of money, so take advantage of your basic math skills. Websites like TaxACT and H&R Block offer complete guidance throughout the filing process, and are a safe bet for first-timers. Take advantage of their expertise, and get your taxes ready to be filed on January 31st.
